Long before I entered AI Quality Operations, I built my career through communication.
Over three years as a freelance Marketing Specialist, I helped organizations across technology, finance, sustainability, and manufacturing communicate more effectively through SEO content, technical writing, science communication, and digital marketing.
Today, those same communication skills continue to shape how I build documentation, present operational insights, and create systems that people actually understand and use.
One of the most meaningful projects in my communication career was contributing to Filipino Faces of Biotechnology, a published coffee table book celebrating the scientists, researchers, and innovators advancing agricultural biotechnology in the Philippines, and making their work accessible to a wider audience.
Working on this project strengthened my appreciation for one of the most important lessons I learned in Development Communication:
Great communication doesn't simplify ideas by removing complexity. It makes complexity understandable.
Contributed research, writing, and editorial support for selected profiles, communicating scientific achievements through accessible storytelling while maintaining factual accuracy.
I also contributed two farmer profiles to Farmers Speak: Stories from the Fields, a monograph by ISAAA Inc. and the DA Biotech Program documenting how the adoption of biotech corn has improved the lives and communities of Filipino farmers. It is the second edition of Farmers First: Feedback from the Farm, first published in 2013 and updated in 2019.
Stories I wrote:
Creating search-optimized articles that balance user intent, readability, and business goals, across technology, finance, manufacturing, lifestyle, and music.
Turning technical subjects into content that broader audiences can understand.
Supporting organizations through communication that informs, educates, and builds credibility.
Applying Development Communication principles to bridge scientific research and public understanding.
Helping entrepreneurs understand financial compliance through practical, reader-friendly guidance.
Breaking down financial reporting requirements into accessible business content.
Simplifying Hong Kong tax administration for business owners navigating compliance.
Educational marketing content supporting entrepreneurs entering product manufacturing.
A practical reference explaining certified translation requirements for international audiences.
With a strong foundation in journalism, I have experience in data-driven reporting, news writing, science journalism, and feature writing. My key skills include rigorous research, clear storytelling, and a commitment to accurate, compelling narratives.
Did you know the 1991 Mount Pinatubo eruption cooled the Earth's surface? About 15 million tons of sulfur dioxide reached the stratosphere, forming aerosol particles that circled the globe for two years and lowered temperatures worldwide.
Hot Topic: Will Solar Radiation Management Be Good for the Philippines? →Knifefish were absent from Laguna Lake until 2009. Their sudden presence threatened the livelihood of small-time fisherfolk, including those in Bay, Laguna. Years later, the infestation remains an unresolved problem affecting their livelihood today.
Knifefish Infestation Still a Problem in Laguna Lake →Attractive. Stinky. Unique. That's how BS Forestry student Menorcha Michaela "Mika" Villacrusis described the rafflesia flowers she saw in Mt. Makiling. She was one of thousands of hikers who endured an hours-long trek to witness the rare plant's beauty.
Rafflesia in Mt. Makiling: The Challenges Behind Its Rare Beauty →2,560,000. That's the estimated number of unintended pregnancies among Filipino women aged 15 to 49 during the community quarantine, per the UP Population Institute, 41.5 percent higher than it would have been without the quarantine.
PH Faces Baby Bust Instead of Baby Boom, Here's Why →I've also developed communication assets supporting campaigns across multiple formats. Each project required adapting messaging for different audiences while maintaining clarity and consistency.
My academic training in Development Communication continues to influence how I approach every communication project, whether writing an SEO article, a policy brief, or operational documentation. I aim to:
Communication is more than writing. It's about helping people understand information well enough to make confident decisions.
Whether I'm documenting operational processes, explaining financial regulations, writing about biotechnology, or creating educational marketing content, I strive to communicate with clarity, empathy, and purpose.
That philosophy has remained constant throughout my career, and continues to shape how I lead teams, develop knowledge systems, and support organizations today.
Whether it's technical documentation, a content strategy, or a story worth telling clearly, I'd love to help.
